about

This piece was written in collaboration with Keith LaMar, a deeply intelligent soul and hungry jazz lover, who has been wrongfully incarcerated for nearly three decades. An already interminable frame of time, he has been forced to carry it out in indefinite solitary confinement, despite years and years of maintaining and proving his innocence.

Keith's means of communicating outside prison walls lies largely through phone calls, in which are placed disruptions every fifteen minutes, having to call back every time. For our collaboration, he recorded his story through this compromised framework. But the soaring truth, pain and, ultimately, love in Keith's words resonates despite its fragmented state, functioning as a universal lesson of perseverance.

Keith is scheduled to be executed in November 16, 2023.
All proceeds from the sale of this track will go to Justice for Keith LaMar, in support of his legal fund.
